Project Symes

Project: Symes Rd – Toronto | Heritage Restoration, Concrete Repair & Structural Rehabilitation

Corcon Construction was entrusted with delivering critical restoration scopes on the iconic Symes Road redevelopment—one of Toronto’s most prominent heritage building restoration projects. This complex transformation required advanced expertise in structural concrete repair, masonry restoration, and building envelope rehabilitation, positioning Corcon as a key contributor in bringing this historic industrial structure back to life.

Corcon executed extensive structural concrete repair and replacement, addressing severe deterioration across load-bearing and architectural elements. Our team restored compromised concrete systems through precise removal, reinforcement, and reinstatement methods, ensuring long-term structural integrity while preserving the original character of the building.

A defining scope of work included the removal and replacement of deteriorated historical concrete soffits. This process required exact replication of original architectural details while integrating modern reinforcement techniques and high-performance materials—delivering both authenticity and durability.

In addition, Corcon performed detailed masonry restoration and façade rehabilitation, carefully restoring the building’s exterior while upgrading its performance to meet current standards. To protect the structure for long-term use, advanced waterproofing systems were installed, safeguarding the building envelope against moisture intrusion and environmental exposure.

Due to the scale and vertical complexity of the project, Corcon engineered and deployed swing stage systems and aerial access solutions, enabling safe, efficient execution across all elevations while maintaining strict compliance with safety regulations and heritage preservation requirements.

This project demonstrates Corcon’s ability to deliver complex heritage restoration, high-rise concrete repair, and structural rehabilitation with precision—successfully combining historic preservation with modern construction performance to create a durable, revitalized asset.
